The GPS-enabled ike 100 from Surveylab adds pictures to GIS applications. The 260 X 110 X 70-millimeter, 957-gram device includes a 12-channel NovAtel GPS receiver, a Pocket PC 2003 computer, and an integrated digital camera. An embedded NovAtel Superstar 2 GPS module utilizes L1, C/A-code and carrier-phase frequencies and has reported position accuracies of less than 5 meters single point and less than 1 meter DGPS. The device's computer contains a 400 MHz XScale processor with 128 MB SDRAM, 48 MB flash memory, and a choice of 256, 512, or 1,024 MB storage. The digital camera produces JPEG and bitmap formats that are locked together with GPS position and time-stamping data in a GIS database. Standard software includes ike Sync with DGPS Post Processing powered by Waypoint Grafnav lite, ESRI ArcPad Application Builder, Microsoft embedded VB, and Microsoft embedded VC++. The system's Lithium-polymer rechargeable battery provides eight hours of use and has a three-hour maximum recharge time. Surveylab Ltd., Wellington, New Zealand.
