The company has launched eVSM, software designed to enable electronic creation of value stream maps. The value stream map is a lean manufacturing tool that is said to help companies eliminate waste and increase productivity by drawing visual diagrams of current and future state processes. According to the company, the software can decrease the average development time for creating an electronic current state value stream map from 1.5 hours (without the software) to 20 minutes (with the software).
The software's key technical features include alignment with the Lean Enterprise Institute's (LEI's) value stream mapping book Learning to See by Mike Rother and John Shook; a complete icon set allowing for standardization among users and creators of value stream maps; ease of value stream mapping creation through "drag and drop" shape utilization with easy snap-to-grid functionality; "smart" stencils to support each software function with "intelligent" behavior between stencils; automatic Web page export, enabling the sharing of drawings across an organization; and a Microsoft Office platform using Visio 2002.
